Thesis

Europe needed a crypto-tax product built for European rules, European users, and European trust - not a US tool with a translation layer.

When Waltio started taking shape, crypto ownership in Europe was already real. What was not real was a standout European product that made tax reporting feel finished: accurate, compliant, and boring in the best way.

Most alternatives were either spreadsheets, fragmented accountants, or overseas tools designed around a different tax mental model. The opportunity was not "another portfolio tracker." It was becoming the default operating system for crypto tax in Europe.

Why this mattered

  • European tax regimes are specific. Product quality is regulatory quality.
  • Users do not want adventure at filing time. They want a report they can trust.
  • The winner in this category compounds through integrations, edge-case coverage, and reputation.

The bet

Waltio's value proposition is simple: aggregate transactions, compute capital gains correctly, and produce a tax report you can actually file. The deeper thesis is category leadership. If Europe was going to have a crypto-tax champion, it would be the company that owned complexity without making users feel it.

That is a European-leader thesis: own the local hard problem so thoroughly that "good enough global tools" stop being good enough.
